A simple example of artificial intelligence is a lab rat that learns the right path to navigate a maze. (There are four types of artificial intelligence). It is similar to human intelligence in that it involves memory and learning.<\/p>\n<p><!-- end: comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html --><!-- end: comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block --><\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_1-0-7\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">Alan Turing in 1950 described \"thinking machines\" as recognizable for their ability to use reason when solving puzzles. These components all work together to enable the machine to take in data from the world and make decisions.<\/p>\n<p><!-- end: comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html --><!-- end: comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block --><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"mntl-sc-block_1-0-18\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block tech-sc-block-subheading mntl-sc-block-subheading\"><span class=\"mntl-sc-block-subheading__text\"> AI sensors <\/span><\/h3>\n<p><!-- end: comp mntl-sc-block tech-sc-block-subheading mntl-sc-block-subheading --><\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_1-0-19\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">Think about how humans collect data from the world. Smart machines also need sensors to collect this information. It is the ability to gather massive amounts of data from multiple sources, analyze it and find meaningful patterns and correlations.<\/p>\n<p><!-- end: comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html --><!-- end: comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-adslot mntl-block --><\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_1-0-28\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">For example, the computer can analyze temperatures and pressures during vehicle crash tests. Computers can identify anomalies in production data by collecting data from hundreds of sensors. It will also identify traffic signals. The self-driving, deep learning car would also learn to adjust its steering to keep the car in the center of the lane.
