Samsung Pay 101: how to pay with your phone
Android devices have Google Pay, which makes it easy to pay with your phone, while the iPhone has Apple Pay. Samsung Pay service is also available on Samsung Galaxy phones. What is Samsung Pay and how do you use it to pay with your phone? You can find the answer in this post.
Good to know: unsure if Samsung Galaxy phones actually support Android? The answer is yes, but here are the differences.
What is Samsung Pay
Samsung Pay is a contactless mobile payment system built directly into your Samsung Galaxy phone or smartwatch. With Samsung Pay, you can pay at retail stores around the world with your Samsung phone using your stored credit or debit card information.
Samsung Pay resembles a digital wallet, with the phone acting as a card that must be swiped at an ATM to make payments at any store. In addition to credit and debit cards, Samsung Pay also allows gift and membership cards to be stored on the phone. Previously, Samsung Pay was a separate app, but now Samsung Pay and Pass services have been combined into one Samsung Wallet app.
To use Samsung Pay, you need to save your card details in the Samsung Wallet app on your phone. You can then make payments without worrying about carrying a real card.
Typically, with physical cards, you have to remove the card from your wallet, swipe it up on the device, enter the card's PIN, and then put it back in your wallet. Samsung Pay simplifies the entire process. After setting up Samsung Pay on your phone, you simply place your phone on a POS terminal or card device and authenticate the card using the fingerprint sensor or iris scanner on your phone.

How Samsung Pay works
Samsung Pay uses your phone's Near Field Communication (NFC) technology to make payments on wireless-enabled devices. Your card data will be sent to an NFC-enabled payment terminal when you place your phone near the device.
However, in some regions, such as India, many merchants still have traditional payment machines where the card must be inserted into the device. Samsung Pay service also works with these machines on some Samsung Galaxy phones.
In general, Samsung Pay works in all places where you can swipe or touch the physical card.
