Bard AI vs ChatGPT: what are the differences?

OpenAI's GPT chatbot has been making waves since its launch in November. But Google recently stepped up to the plate. The tech giant has made its mark in the world of artificial intelligence with a new release, Bard AI.

GPT Chat is an AI language model designed to communicate with users in a conversational manner. Artificial intelligence has the ability to perform many natural language processing (NLP) tasks, such as summarizing text, translating language and answering questions.

Just as GPT Chat, Bard AI also operates as an AI chatbot, but is built on Google's LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Application) model. What distinguishes the two models is that Bard will be able to access information from the Internet.

While GPT Chat is very limited to the data on which it has been trained. You may have already noticed that GPT Chat has knowledge only of events that took place before 2021.

According to Google CEO Sundar Pichai, the standout feature will "deliver fresh, high-quality answers." For this reason, many expect Bard to be much more reliable than GPT Chat.

In addition, Google's LaMDA model will apparently require less server capacity than OpenAI's GPT 3.5 architecture. Therefore, Bard AI can potentially accommodate more users compared to GPT chat.

Other than the basic architecture, there is not much difference between the two models. Currently, Google's Bard AI is not publicly available, but that should change this year.

Both models can basically perform the same tasks, such as suggesting event ideas, explaining complex concepts and language translations.

Sundar Pichai has not yet indicated whether Bard AI will have the ability to generate long text such as GPT Chat. So this is a feature we will have to pay attention to when the model is released.

Bard AI vs ChatGPT - which is better?

It really depends. Based solely on capabilities, Bard AI is based on newer data using Google's LaMDA language model - which is newer than the GPT-3 language model on which it was built GPT Chat. In addition GPT Chat is trained on data through 2021, which limits the capabilities of Chat GPT. Google Bard is believed to be using newer data.

However, Chat GPT has certainly gained the upper hand, and Bard AI is limited to only selected testers at the time of writing. So if you're looking for an application to use right now, Chat GPT is the one to access.

Bard AI vs ChatGPT for data analysis

When it comes to data analysis, Bard AI should have an advantage. Since data science is a field where conclusions are drawn from statistical information, the key is to have the most up-to-date information.

So, while Chat GPT should be able to provide insight, Bard should win this clash - it is designed to continuously retrieve information from the Internet.

Is Bard Google available?

Unfortunately, no. However, Google has hinted that the model should be publicly available in the coming weeks. At the moment, Bard AI is only available to a select number of third-party testers. The tech giant plans to gather feedback on its tool before making it available to a wider audience.

Final thoughts

Both Chat GPT and Bard AI are extremely powerful AI models. It will certainly be interesting to see how Google's new tool performs in comparison to OpenAI. However, this is one of those cases where we will have to wait for a model release to find out.
